Maternity Sessions

I recommend capturing these when you are between the 7-8 month mark in your pregnancy. This helps ensure you are not too swollen or uncomfortable and generally reduces the likelihood of the potential puffy "I am over it" feels we so often have by the end of pregnancy!

Shoots are generally outdoors and I often recommend at sunset to get that beautiful golden light (on a sunny light) or the peaceful stillness on an overcast day.

You can choose to have your session solo, with your fellow baby maker/partner or with all your kids. Most clients choose to have it with their family, it is a truly special way to document the period of excitement and (chaotic) peace as you approach the time you will soon welcome your baby to this world. It is that moment to embrace the significance of relationships with your other children before they shift and evolve as you all welcome a new baby to your family. Or a time for you truly connect with your partner before those fleeting moments are consumed by all the love you feel for your little baby when your family grows.

Please make sure you have contacted my by the 20 week mark so I can accomodate your shoot. If you forgot (in the flurry of all the things going on), please still check in and ask. I will always try and make time.

What to wear and how to choose

For mum, I recommend wearing flowy dresses- ones that are full length and have movement and mid or full sleeves. This helps accentuate bump while flattering your feminine shape. They double up as a fun element for other children to play in!

Mum and the baby being carried in her womb are truly the focus of these shoots. For this reason, the rest of the family should compliment your choice of outfit.

When selecting your gown and your family's clothes, I would recommend natural colours that compliment the setting you are in. For example, a tightly fitting bodycon dress and heels may not look like the type of thing you would wear when stepping out in nature and juggling another child while 8 months pregnant! Let's be honest, we rarely might dress up in pregnancy, so I would recommend choosing something you're comfortable in, that makes you feel like a Goddess and that will really enhance your inner beauty and the picturesque setting you choose to have your photos taken in. Please do get in touch if you would like me to help you in choosing your gown and your family's outfits. I would be happy to help. If you do not wish to buy a new dress but want something unique, check out mama rentals for affordable hire options.
